On 4th March, a suspected rabid dog attacked five villagers in Madhya Pradesh’s Mauganj district. The incident triggered panic in the area. Two people were seriously injured. The incident took place in Khatkhari village under the Shahpur police station limits. Residents said that the sudden attack forced many villagers to retreat into their homes out of fear.
Rabid dog attacks five villagers
According to local information, the dog first attacked Rajesh Jaiswal. When nearby residents rushed to rescue him, the animal turned aggressive and bit several others, including Khushinand and Shiv Kaliya Saket.
In a particularly alarming incident, Shiv Kaliya Saket was reportedly bathing inside her house when the dog entered the premises and attacked her. The sudden intrusion and attack inside the house left villagers shocked and heightened fears in the area.
Two critically injured, referred to Rewa hospital
Following the incident, all the injured individuals were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Mauganj for treatment. After providing initial medical care, doctors assessed the condition of Rajesh Jaiswal and Shiv Kaliya Saket as serious.
Both were referred to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa at around 5 pm on Wednesday for further treatment.
Villagers demand action
The attack has created an atmosphere of fear in Khatkhari village. Residents have urged the administration to immediately capture the dog and put in place stronger safety measures to prevent further attacks. Villagers say the incident has left people hesitant to step out of their homes, especially with children and elderly residents considered particularly vulnerable.
