On 23rd March, a 2-year-old child, who was grievously injured in a dog attack in Dabi, Rajasthan, died. The incident took place on 26th February. The victim has been identified as Virendra Banjara, son of Rakesh Banjara. The family of the victim has accused the hospital of lapses in treatment and stated that proper medical care was not provided.

According to media reports, the child was playing in the courtyard of the house when the incident happened. A stray dog attacked the child, severely biting his face and jaw. Hearing his screams, the mother rushed to the spot and rescued him. The child was rushed to Dabi CHC, where he was provided preliminary treatment and referred to MBS Hospital in Kota. After stitching the wounds, doctors discharged the child.

On 17th March, the child developed stomach pain and started vomiting. The family took him to Dabi hospital, where doctors reportedly termed it a gas issue and removed the stitches. His condition did not improve and he was rushed to JK Lone Hospital in Kota on 18th March. Doctors gave medicines and sent him back. On 23rd March, the child died at around 4 pm.

The father stated that despite all efforts, lack of timely and appropriate treatment led to the child’s death. CHC in charge Avinash Sharma stated that the patient had been referred to Kota and was undergoing treatment there.
