On 18 December, a woman was grievously injured after being attacked by a stray dog in Tengrahan village under the Minapur police station area of Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. The victim has been identified as Phoolo Devi. She sustained deep injuries to her face and hands. Attacked while feeding cattle
According to media reports, Phoolo Devi had stepped out near her house to feed fodder to her buffalo when a stray dog suddenly attacked her. The dog reportedly lunged at her face and hands, tearing flesh and leaving her bleeding profusely. The impact of the assault caused her to collapse on the ground.
Villagers rush her to hospital
Phoolo Devi’s screams alerted nearby locals, who rushed to the spot and managed to rescue her. Seeing her critical condition, she was rushed to the primary health centre in Minapur. After administering first aid, doctors referred her to SKMCH Muzaffarpur due to the severity of her wounds. According to media reports, the injuries were deep and she was given anti rabies injections along with other necessary medication.

The incident has triggered panic in Tengrahan village and nearby areas. Locals say the number of stray dogs in the region has increased sharply, making it unsafe for children and the elderly to step outside their homes. Villagers have demanded that the district administration and civic authorities launch an urgent drive to capture stray dogs and prevent such attacks in the future.
