On 27th December, a 2-year-old boy was injured after a stray dog attacked him while he was sitting with his mother at a roadside eatery in the Lahi market area of Haidergarh in Barabanki district. The incident occurred in the evening when the child’s mother had briefly seated him on a nearby bench while she ate chaat. The victim has been identified as Rahul. His family is from Halor town in Raebareli.
According to media reports, the dog suddenly approached and bit the child before anyone could react. The mother raised an alarm and tried to chase away the vicious dog as the boy cried in pain. People nearby rushed in and used sticks to drive the dog away, preventing further injury.
The child was rushed for treatment to a nearby private clinic, where he received primary medical care. After dressing and vaccination, the child was discharged.
Repeated incidents trigger fear
The attack has sparked panic among residents, particularly as similar incidents have been reported in the area in recent days. Residents have raised concerns over the growing stray dog menace and the lack of effective preventive action, warning that crowded marketplaces and residential lanes are increasingly unsafe for children.
