Four-year-old boy Arsh killed by stray dog pack near fields in Bareilly village

On 2 March, a 4-year-old boy was brutally mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district. The incident took place in Sukli village under the Shahi police station area. As per media reports, the child wandered alone towards nearby fields. By the time villagers rushed to rescue the child after hearing his screams, the dogs had already inflicted fatal injuries.

Child attacked near fields while playing alone

According to reports, the deceased child, identified as Arsh, was the son of Khurshid, a farmer residing in Sukli village. On Monday afternoon around 1 pm, Arsh stepped out of the house while playing and walked nearly 500 metres towards agricultural fields.

Villagers said a pack of around four dogs surrounded the child and attacked him. As the terrified boy fell to the ground, the dogs pounced on him and began tearing at his body.

The dogs ripped open the child’s stomach and tore flesh from his chest. Deep bite marks and claw wounds were also found on his face, hands, and legs.

Villagers rush after hearing child’s screams

Farmers working in nearby fields heard the child screaming and rushed to the spot. They managed to chase away the dogs and informed the family. Khurshid and other villagers soon reached the location.

The father picked up the severely injured child and rushed him for treatment. However, Arsh had already succumbed to his injuries.

Villagers blame poultry farm waste

Residents said stray dogs frequently gather near a poultry farm located outside the village where dead chicks are dumped in the open. Villagers claim the dogs have become aggressive and have attacked people earlier as well.

Station House Officer Rajesh Baisla said police reached the spot after receiving information. However, the family declined to file a complaint and refused to allow a post-mortem examination of the child’s body.
