A 5-year-old child sustained a head injury after stray dogs attacked him inside a housing society in Sector 78 of Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the society. Child attacked while stepping out of society market
The family of the victim lives in Karmik Greens Housing Society. On the day of the incident, the kid had gone to the society’s internal market to buy chocolates. As the child stepped out of the shop, two stray dogs suddenly pounced on him. The kid got startled by the sudden attack and fell to the ground. CCTV footage of the incident showed the dogs attempting to drag the child as he lay helpless on the floor.
Neighbours rush in after hearing screams
The child sustained injuries to his head during the attack. Hearing his screams, people nearby rushed to the spot and managed to chase the dogs away, rescuing the child.
The family immediately took the child for medical treatment. Doctors have stated that the child is currently out of danger, though the incident has left him traumatised.
Residents allege repeated complaints ignored
Following the attack, residents of the society expressed anger and frustration. They said the number of stray dogs in the society and surrounding sectors has been steadily increasing.
Residents said that multiple complaints had earlier been made to the Noida Authority, but no concrete action was taken to control the stray dog population.
Locals have now demanded that the authority and police launch a special drive to control stray dogs in residential areas. They have also called for immediate safety measures to protect children and senior citizens.
