On 22nd December, a stray dog chased a biker in the Ramnagar area of Roorkee, leading to an accident in which the biker fell and sustained a fracture to one of his arms. The dog also bit the victim as he fell from the bike. The victim has been identified as Sahil. The incident has renewed concerns over public safety, particularly for two-wheeler riders.

According to media reports, Sahil was travelling on his motorcycle when a stray dog suddenly began chasing him. He was startled by the sudden pursuit and lost control of his vehicle. As Sahil fell on the road, the stray dog bit him on his leg. The impact of the fall resulted in a fracture to one of his arms.

Bystanders rushed to help him and shooed away the dog. Sahil was taken to Civil Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. Speaking to the media, hospital staff said that the injured biker was administered the anti-rabies vaccine as a precautionary measure. His fractured arm was examined and treated by the doctors.

Rising fear among residents

Residents of the area said stray dogs have increasingly become a threat on city roads, especially for pedestrians and two-wheeler riders. Several locals pointed out that sudden dog chases often lead to accidents, putting lives at risk even when no direct attack occurs.
