On 4th January, an 8-year-old girl fought a stray dog for around three minutes to save her younger brother in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. The incident took place in the Smowariya area of Ward No 3 in Khilchipur town. The victim has been identified as Liza, daughter of Suresh Rao, who works as a labourer. Liza and her brother Krish were playing outside their aunt’s house when a stray dog suddenly attacked the boy.

According to media reports, the dog pounced on Krish and mauled his head, which led to severe bleeding. The child screamed in pain. Seeing her brother being attacked, Liza did not hesitate and confronted the dog directly. She fought with the vicious animal for around 3 minutes in an attempt to save her brother. During the struggle, the dog also attacked her, leaving injuries on her hands, face, and head.

Hearing their screams, local residents rushed to the spot, but by that time the dog had fled. Realising that her brother was bleeding heavily, Liza immediately took off her T-shirt and tied it around his head to stop the bleeding.

Both children hospitalised

Following the incident, the children’s mother, Poonam Rao, and neighbours informed their father, who was away at work. Both children were rushed to Khilchipur hospital and later referred to the Rajgarh district hospital due to the seriousness of their injuries.

Doctors said Krish suffered severe head wounds, while Liza sustained multiple injuries. Both children are currently reported to be in stable condition.
